Book - Prep

If you have not read “Prep,” by Curtis Sittenfeld, I strongly recommend it. It was an easy read and a page-turner.

The novel is about a self-conscious, not-so-popular teenage girl's (Fiora) high school experience at a prestigious boarding school. It's not just a girly novel about Fiora's friendships, crushes, relationships with teachers, or even conflicts with her parents. The complicity of human interactions and social class were revealed through Fiora's careful and constant observations. And her experiences at high school to a certain extend reflect what goes on in the real world.

One plot in the book I don't understand is why would the most popular guy (whom Fiora had a crush on) in school, whose been ignoring Fiora from the beginning, all of a sudden came to her in their senior year...and the author didn't give any explaination at all.

Another Curtis' book is coming out on May 16 and it's called “The man of my dreams.” I am eagerly waiting for it. Hopefully it's going to be as good.
